Best sound and soundbar for my space

PSVic 1/9/2022

i've had my qled tv and my q70r soundbar for 3 years now and it's the best. samsung got it right with the sound modes, sound adjustability and a perfect match to my tv. i just added the rear speaker kit and i wish i'd done it sooner. overall watching movies is a religious experience when it comes to small scale home theater. our living area is small so this set up is made for us because it takes up minimal space. as far as movies with atmos, while its not perfect because of my slightly vaulted ceilings, it does work well. and the bass will rumble things if i let it. (i've run the atmos demo clips which are heart pounding.) i also love streaming apple music + through the system via bluetooth. very nice .

Great sound when working

Lynt 11/14/2021

q70 garmon kardon / samsung sound bar. biught this slong with 50" q90rat tv. when it worked it produced grest sound. sadly after 15 months the sub- woofer lost its connection tobthe sound bar. all attempts to resolve failed. no repair possible and samsung would not entertain any replacement or repair. it has cost me over £200 to replace the subwoofer. clearly this product was designed to work just beyond its warranty period.

MrCowans 2/16/2021

purchased this for my basement home theatre setup, as a replacement for an old samsung 2.1 soundbar. the old 2.1 system actually sounds better! no noticable atmos effects. random weird sound issues. also purchased the rear surround kit, which has to be reset frequently to get rid of static and very low volume. when it does work it sounds "ok". nothing to get excited about.

Failed quickly

Money wasted 11/29/2020

bt never connected wuthout frequent drops. over time the arc conncet failed. initially it required repeat power cycling to get it to recognize but now nothing works. samsung service department states that it likely a soundbar issur but will not stand behind their product because it is 4 months over their 12 minth warranty. $500 wasted. would never buy a sumsung product again.

Connectivity issues from the start.

John 9/24/2020

the bluetooth on this device has been awful from the start. i connect my phone to bluetooth for music, it just keeps reading "bluetooth pairing" even after my phone connects. this is the the latest example. while watching tv the connection is unstable, leading to little hiccups in the sound. ive reached out to samsung customer service multiple times - these problems might go away for a bit, but they always come back. connecting via wifi or hdmi works a little better, but the sound still hiccups. ive done the hard reset and made sure all the latest updates are installed. i think this is just a broken product.

Unsatisfied 8/9/2020

purchased this soundbar/subwoofer along with a 65" samsung q70 tv. unfortunately after a few months of use the hdmi arc no longer works and the tv no longer sees the soundbar on the arc or via wifi. i have tested several hdmi cables that work with other devices and the tv diagnoses an hdmi cable issue. so the soundbar ir tv are defective. samsung support is unresponsive so far, and difficult to contact.

Very impressped with this system

lomelie 8/8/2020

i have owned many soundbars and this one is my favorite. i even prefer this over my sonos beam. this soundbar is a beast with bass and it makes action movies and horror films sound incredible. one concern ive i've had with other soundbars in the past was vocal clarity getting muffled by sound effects. this is definity not case here. i loved it so much i ended up buying a second set after finding an open box on sale.

Great hardware, awful software

Arrbee 6/19/2020

sounds great - when working. getting there is a major hassle since samsung forces you to download a "smart" things app. overly complex – i don't want or need my soundbar online. also flawed – 30 minutes of signins and re-downloads to finish. plus not great for privacy, monitoring your watching habits - check the "privacy policy". just let us update firmware via usb, samsung! a question too - what tv mount works for q70 on top of a tv? and what surround mount works for 8500s on ceiling? no info on samsung site or manuals, and soundbar mounting holes are on bottom (most use the back), while 8500s have a cheap looking keyhole instead of proper threaded 1/4" holes. another hassle. good thing sound is best for your buck, or i wouldn't waste time solving their bad design issues.

I am user since 6 months, with bo bigger issues. It's hard for me to compare since this is my forst soundbar and I use it with Q70F QLED tv. It works as it should, I also upgraded this set woth satellite speakers - I recommend everyone to do so! One minus - lack or Airplay. Samsung, really? No Airplay? Come on!

Not perfect, but deserves at least 4 stars

danbfree 4/28/2020

Great option to experience Atmos, DTS:X and full lossless without a full receiver or even rear speakers. Any early issues where rear channel sound is just dropped is long fixed, rear channel is added back to the front so no sound is "missing", and is properly sent to the rears if you add the rear speaker kit. Only major annoying thing is that Samsung thinks that upper end soundbar owners don't care about a night listening /compressed audio mode, their claim that Adaptive mode works well for it is just not true. ProTip: Install the SmartThings app and set a custom EQ with the middle frequencies turned up a bit and this works well as a night TV mode (custom EQ always forces "Standard" mode with no top speaker output). Default Adaptive sound that creates a fake Atmos/DTS:X does work well for adding some soundstage most of the time, even in music, but you will probably want to cut treble a little for music in this mode, it's definitely a little too bright. Movies just have BIG sound, you may find yourself quickly grabbing the remote to turn down the subwoofer if not turned down to -4 or beyond, hehe. Of course any upfiring Atmos setup won't have the strongest effect, but you can turn up the top speaker a little too if you want a little more overhead effects for Atmos and DTS:X. Otherwise, excellent build quality, very deep hitting and rumbling bass that can thankfully be turned down easily and option to go to 5.1.2 makes this a great mid-range choice, especially when on big discount. :)

Great sound quality when it works!

Rocky21 3/21/2020

I am a loyal customer of Samsung and use their TV and other home appliances. I never had any issues.I bought Q70R sound bar few months ago and have been using with Samsung Qled TV. When I connect sounder only to the TV it works great but when I connect amazon firestick on pass-through port it works for the first time but when I turn off TV and Turn it back on TV does not recognize the sound bar and I only get sound from the TV so basically nothing works until I reset everything ( TV, sounder and firestick) which has been frustrating. After talking to customer support I sent the sound bar for repair but they sent it back saying it works perfectly in their testing environment. I can't tell if they tested the pass-through. But I have same issue now. As I said, it works perfectly and TV remote works for both when I don't have anything connected in the sound bar pass-through port but system does not function when try to connect a pass through source like Firestick to enjoy Dolby Atmos. I hope they can fix the issue as the only reason I bought the sound bar was to enjoy Dolby Atmos but I am not able to use it currently.

Issues with dolby atmos content

Rezwan 3/21/2020

I have a HW-Q70R connected to my TV via ARC. When I'm watching Dolby Atmos content (via the Netflix app) on my Samsung TV it seems flicker constantly between regular HDMI ARC and Dolby Atmos, resulting in quick silences in audio when it switches between the two formats. Any solutions or suggestions? I have tried with 2 diff HDMI cable but none could solve the issue. Samsung please suggest.

Issues Working With Flagship Samsung 8k Q900

Dave 2/11/2020

Bought this yesterday set it up and had high expectations. No issues until turning everything on the Q70R and the Q900. On much may stations that are through my fiber optic connection FIOS the people speaking and the actual sound is not timed. The adjustments available are for the opposite of what is happening. I do not need a delay but an advancement of the signal. Next issue went per the manual to set up the App so that I could fine tune the settings of the Q70 and set up other audio to play from my other Bluetooth devices. This Q70 system despite the instructions in the manual is not supported by the Samsung Smart Things App. That means it is a real PITA to do most tasks to fine tune the Q70. Spent a good hour with Samsung Tech Support and even went to HDMI connection vs Bluetooth it is better but still have the out of synchronization problem (a known issue per Tech Support). Samsung Technical Support verified in fact were the ones who told me that the Samsung Smart Things App despite what the manual stated is not supported nor will it ever be supported by the App. Given all of the above I will be boxing this back up today and returning it and returning it because a large part of why I was purchasing this was the integration with my Q900 8k beast and the phone App.

Question

J_Chicago 2/5/2020

I just purchased the HW-Q70R but I've been trying to find documentation and reached out to tech support at Samsung and nobody has been able to provide a clear answer. I would like to mount the soundbar underneath a TV that is wall mounted but I think this would cause issues to the Atmos speakers since they are supposed to "reflect" sound from the ceiling to give a fuller sound experience. Does anyone know if this is an issue or if there is a speakerbar that would move the soundbar more forward so the speakers aren't underneath the TV? Thanks!!

Problems After a Month

Butch 1/4/2020

I bought the Q70 and rear speakers. I was happy with the performance of the equipment for about a month. I started having problems with an echo, static and the sound breaking up. It became so bad I had to turn off the sound bar and turn on the TV speakers. Sometimes the problem would resolve itself after a few minutes and other times it was more than unacceptable. I returned the equipment to Crutchfield.

Works Great !!

Finally got sound 12/26/2019

Did lots of research before purchasing, and so glad I did, as this was the best model on the market for the price I could find. I know it taunts the speaker to be optimised for the Samsung Q-Led TV's but I have an LG O-Led 65' and it paired up in seconds with my TV as well. Love the look, the features, and the awesome sound, we can actually hear what the people are saying on TV now for the 1st time, so clear and distinct and rich deep base. We could not be happier with out purchase :-)

Amazing I just have an idea for Samsung

Boby 12/19/2019

It sounds butifufull but I think Samsung should increase the number of sound plus accessories like the ability to make it 7.1.2 or even make wireless speakers with up firing drivers and I would totally pay for that and maybe the ability to add dual subwoofers I know it's a lot to ask but people love costimizing audio systems and that could be one of your main ads a soundbar that grows with you but ether way I do love this soundbar I just know it could be more

NgawangG 12/16/2019

I am very happy I bought this. Perfect for my one bedroom apartment. So good sound and bass. Thank you Samsung for bringing this in market. My small concern is I am little confused with wifi working. How does it work? When I turn on the TV it shows WiFi on the speaker but I don't know what is supposed to do.

ARC does not work!

hey yo 12/10/2019

I hate to post negative feedback like this but here goes.. Am trying to connect my Q70 soundbar to my KS8000 TV but no luck so far. I have the latest tv update 1241, soundbar firmware upate 1008, and I have AnyNet+ on both the Q70 soundbar, TV, HDMI cables connected to the ARC ports, and the soundbar input is on DI mode, but nothing. When I check my speaker settings list I dont see the Q70 soundbar listed, only tv, bluetooth, and audio out/optical only, the DI mode stays "D I Mode," ARC doesnt replace "D I Mode" like its suppose. I tried resetting or unplugging the soundbar, turning off all the AnyNet + option on my tv and sound bar but the only thing that pops up on my sound settings is "HDMI Reciever". I select "HDMI reciever," but that doesn't do nothing just keeps saying "connecting AnyNet+ device," and resets to my speaker settings. I tired my old samsung K550 soundbar using the same setup worked right off the bat. When I try the bluetooth, wifi, and coaxial connections they work fine just not the HDMI ARC. Other than the ARC bug the soundbar does work great! My 4k movies, Roku, and apple tv sound great I feel like am in the movie theater. I was gotta buy a new Q70 tv, guys seem to be able to use the ARC on the Q tvs at least, but spending 1000$ just to get the newest soundbar to work is not a very positive thing to make long time paying costumers.

Out of sync with picture

MUFCN21 12/5/2019

Sooo dissappointed. Bought this with a q80 TV and expected everything to work seamlessly. Sadly the sound does not sync with the picture even with the optical out connection. Samsung website suggests adjusting the delay time but that is a ridiculaous suggestion when the delay is different for all sources.

Good Sound Terrible Connections App Support

Basar 12/3/2019

I have been using my Q70R for 1 month. Watching movies and tv shows are really great. Listening to music is also satisfying. But when it comes to advanced controling the device it is terrible. You are sentenced the silly app called SmartThings. First of all Q70R is not listed while Q80R and Q90R are listed in the supported device list. Even though the app detects it. But very very less controls are supported. The app is failing most of times. (my friend has an Q70R and he is also having the same problems). And as you are sentenced to this SmartThings any other app is not suported. I tries to update the firmware but I couldnt find what type of usb stick is supported into the service input. I also called Samsung support but they are not competent and telling the same and dont have advanced knowledge.

Sound is good, design seems to be flawed (beware)

Commodities1 12/3/2019

I have a 75" Q Samsung QLED TV so this sounder paired easily. The issue I am having and will cause me to send this back is as follows: My TV is on a slim mount on the wall. There is a recessed outlet behind the TV where the TV is plugged. Now I need to plug the soundbar into the same outlet. If the adapter was a normal sized one, this could not be a problem. For some unknown reason, Samsung has this HUGE rectangle adapter that needs to be plugged into the wall. In my situation this is just not possible because there is not enough clearance between the TV and the wall (slim mount, you see). I would imagine, most folks with wall mounted TV would have the same issue. The adapter sticks out a good 4 inches from the wall. Why Samsung did not create a low profile adapter is beyond me. It seems that the rest of the system is well designed.

Kenneth 12/2/2019

When I'm watching an event in 4K on my 2019 model QN75Q6DRAF , the sound is out of sync with the people talking. I'm not sure what to do to sync up the voice with the person speaking with no delays. I've tried the sound bar adjustment that only makes it worse.

Terrible soundbar

Steve Heisler 11/1/2019

I bought the HW-Q70R soundbar with my Q70R QLED 65" TV and it's never worked correctly. The audio produced through the soundbar is delayed from the tv video. It's terrible. I even sent the soundbar back to Samsung for maintenance and they reported they found nothing wrong. Great example of not supporting their products. Very expensive and waste of money. Don't buy it!!

Good sound

Mike 10/20/2019

I bought this a month ago, and it works perfectly with my Q70 tv. Setup was not perfect- not because of the soundbar, but because I was not used to this soundbar. When you turn on the TV, it takes 5-10 seconds for the TV to switch from TV speakers to soundbar. Turn your TV speakers to 0, and leave it there if you don't want to hear them on startup. The control is new to me. Volume is press a button on other remotes. On this one, press in is mute. Press the volume button Upward to increase volume.

Great sound; technical issues mainly with HDMI

Tyler 10/15/2019

The overall sound of the soundbar is a 5 out of 5. It's very loud and the subwoofer fills the room with awesome bass. The lower rating is due to issues with the HDMI on the soundbar. I have my xbox connected to the soundbar via HDMI and soundbar connected to TV to ARC-HDMI. When I switch my Samsung Q70 tv to "Xbox" the soundbar should switch to HDMI automatically. About half the time it works as it should. The other half the soundbar flashes HDMI and then goes right back to TV-ARC causing the tv to show the "no input found; check device power". When this happens I have to manually switch the soundbar input with remote. Samsung has told me this sounds like a firmware issue that may be corrected in a later update? The other issue is with the HDMI video passthrough. When switching to Xbox; sometimes the soundbar has sound but just a black screen on the tv. I have to switch the input to cable and then back to xbox-HDMI and then the picture comes up as it should. All of the Soundbar issues seem to be related to HDMI. If plug everything into the TV directly and not to the HDMI-In on soundbar, none of these issues happen. The only issue is you don't get the Dolby Atmos unless you plug the component directly into the Soundbar.

Honestly, great

crygirl 10/15/2019

I'm surprised at the number of poor reviews. My experience with the Q70 has been fantastic. I am using it with my Q9F in a decently large bedroom and just having the volume at 20% is more than enough. The lows are great, the highs are clear. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase

Very Impressive

Dahveed18 9/25/2019

I went from a 5.1 amplified component surround sound system to this sound bar and I'm not disappointed. The sound from the bar is impressive, but what's most impressive is the wireless sub. I love that I was able to connect this to my TV via bluetooth to save running another wire.

Great sound potentials for movies

Sam13 9/22/2019

Looks that the connectivity problems (especially Wi-Fi) are solved, smartthings app is finally working. After returning the product a 1st time and the great intervention with clear explenation of customer support I purchased again the item and it is working really great. Clear sound dimensions, movie dialogues superbs and it's impressive in surround mode.

Not worth for the money

bhav 9/18/2019

Not at all worth for the money. Sound quality is average. Not able to control (on / off / vol up, down) with my Samsung TV remote. Tried all steps from manual, but no use.

Disappointing connection experience

Samu 9/14/2019

SmartThing App was impossible to access even following the nice and supportive Samsung costumer care. This is the only was to connect wi-fi and update software plus eventually add Swa modules. The swa modules compatible are out of market so the potential 5.1 channels are impossible to reach. I returned the product for now

Doesn't work, bad customer service

Leah 9/11/2019

I bought this a month ago and it has had a problem of switching the source by itself while watching so randomly the sound cuts out or changes and then goes back to how it should be. When it works correctly, it sounds nice, but we deal with this every time we use it. Customer service has failed to help me fix it and I spent a lot of money on a faulty piece of equipment. I will never buy another Samsung product again. Garbage.

Immersive sound and excellent clarity

Audiophile23 8/31/2019

The audio engineers at Samsung/Harman Kardon have upped the anti in the Soundbar arena with the deployment of the HW-Q70R. While on the pricey side, the acoustics and immersive sound stage justifies the price tag. Having owned and compared numerous brands of audio equipment, I can unreservedly recommend this Soundbar to anyone who longs dynamic sound with a small speaker footprint.

Fix HDMI Arc!

Eskimoboi 8/18/2019

I have a brand new Q70-49" tv paired to this brand new Q70R sound bar. Both updated with latest firmware. Sound bar will NOT work consistently over HDMI (plugged into Samsung ARC hdmi port). Sometimes it works great, sometimes tv defaults back to tv speakers and no matter how many times you change back to soundbar it is silent and eventually reverts back to tv speaker. Quite frustrated after spending this kind of money on a Q70 tv and Q70 soundbar.

Alexa linking is terrible

rider al 8/11/2019

As a speaker system, it's great, for the money. However, linking with Alexa is terrible. No place, on the Samsung site or the internet, can I find a straightforward procedure to link the Q70R with my Alexa Echo. After much fiddling around and discovered I must use the Samsung Multi-room app? Why?? this shouldn't be necessary. Also, "device discovery" by the old SmartThings app and the new version. name and treat the q70R differently. One says "Q70R" and the other "Samsung Soundbar

Wish I didn't have to write this.

Workman70 7/18/2019

For sound, I'd give it a 3.5-4 star - the bass is great, the sound is pretty good, certainly doesn't compare to a 5.1 system, even though I DO have the rear wireless speakers attached (yes, correctly). It's got a great design and looks good on the tv stand. Where my problem comes in with this unit is the TV ARC connection. I've had multiple soundbars, including the HW-Q60r that I had purchased originally. Then the Q70r went on sale the next day and I exchanged the 60 for the 70. The 60 worked flawlessly with ARC, turned on every time, went to the right input (TV ARC). So, I installed the FIRST Q70r and it would turn on via ARC. However, it would always start at the HDMI source and not recognize ARC until I had to manually switch sources to D.IN/TV ARC. Then it works flawlessly. Turn off the TV, turn it back on, back to HDMI and I have to manually switch it again. By the way, I only have the ARC connected, no other sources. I called Samsung, they said that's not supposed to happen, so I take it back and exchange it for another Q70r. Well, this one won't even turn on via ARC (yes, I have the correct settings on the TV and anynet+ is on. For the price of the soundbar, I shouldn't have to manually change sources each time I turn on the TV. Looks like this one will likely be going back as well, and I'll have to look into other brands that can at least do the basic minimum like find the only active source. Really disappointed in this as I'm typically a Samsung fan. TV is a 80" Sharp Aquos on which all other tested soundbars have worked.

Sound is good but everything else sucks!!

KLewis2019 7/18/2019

I can't connect to the wifi. I can't connect to the samsung app. I have a samsung MU8000 tv and a samsung connect home pro and the soundbar just will not connect to wifi or the app. Plus I still have to use two remotes to watch tv. One to change inputs and the other to adjust the tv volume. It sucks that a $800.00 soundbar has so many issues

Nice sound

nopixel 7/10/2019

Earlier this year I bought the Q70 Samsung T.V. and I bought this soundbar to go with it. It's my first soundbar and I like it for a number of reasons. The sound is a big improvement over the T.V. speakers, and setting it up and operating is simple. I've got Comcast Xfinity and I can control the cable box, the T.V. and the soundbar all with the Xfinity remote which is nice, and there are some limited options for adjusting frequencies. The adaptive sound mode sounds like it has some kind of crystalizer effect, which I won't try and explain but which makes audio sound a lot richer. Also all the sound modes allow you to tweak the bass. Some minor complaints are that 1). only standard mode allows frequencies tweaking, and it seems to lack the crystalizer effects of the adaptive sound mode so it's not a mode I would normally recommend. 2). Adjustments to frequencies and the woofer are limited, and it's a big subwoofer so it's too bad you can't crank up the bass beyond a few notches. 3). It's expensive. 4). Only one HDMI input and no eARC HDMI.

Amazing sound quality!

Khawaja 7/4/2019

The sound quality on this soundbar blew me away. The music feels so good. The spaciousness of sound is amazing! This soundbar is able to simulate 5.1.2 with just 3.1.2. Obviously, it can't give the feel of an actual discrete 5.1.2 setup, but it does a good job. simple to setup if you follow the manual that comes with it. Update the firmware using Samsung smart things. Looks beautiful, works awesome and feels great. This is an awesome all-rounder setup especially for those who, like me, would like to avoid extra speakers all over the place. Btw there is also an option to buy and connect 2 rear speakers for enhanced Atmos/surround experience.

My Q70 Review

Gsx4 6/1/2019

First, let me say this is my first foray into soundbars. I had a semi high-end component system (Yamaha, B&W speakers, two 12" subs, 800 watts RMS) that more than filled the 14'x20' living room at our former house. But the living room in our current home just didn't setup well for a component system. Thus, my search for a decent soundbar began. Now, just to clarify, I didn't expect to find a sound bar that was equivalent to the component system I had. I don't think that's possible with any of the current offerings. I just wanted something that struck a good balance with sound, functionality and appearance. My quest began with a budget range of $700 - $1000. Yes, you can spend more, and the higher end systems do sound better to some degree, but as previously stated this was my first sound bar. I didn't want to spend $1500 - $1700 on a system that, for me, was new and untested and I had little experience with. So, with my budget range set, off I went. My search began with research. Exhaustive, time consuming research pouring over specifications and details of systems from various manufacturers. After paring my list to the top three, The Q70 won out because it checked all the boxes and was also attractive because it looked like it would integrate seamlessly with my Samsung television (55" Class KU6290 4K UHD TV), which it did. Pros: 1. Build and Appearance. The sound bar is certainly not flashy (subtle is better) and looks to be well built. It feels solid, there are no rattles when you handle it or when it's working, and it blends well sitting under the TV which is mounted on the brick wall above the fireplace. The sound bar sits on the mantle underneath. 2. Ease of installation. It's basically plug-and-play as far as to get it working. Everything connected or paired with no problems. Make sure the Anynet+ is on or enabled. The manual says it's defaulted to be on, but mine wasn't. And I'm pretty sure I didn't inadvertently turn it off since you must hold a button down for 5 seconds to turn it off. The manual says this is needed for the ARC connection between the sound bar and your TV. A couple of other tips: Samsung suggests you select Dolby Digital on your TV for the best sound. Mine, a Samsung, either has PCM or Bitstream. There is no Dolby Digital selection. After some research I selected Bitstream. This made a difference in the sound. Also make sure that Dolby Digital is turned on in your satellite or cable receiver. Mine was not on. Probably due to the fact the receiver sat idle for some time during our move. Once it was turned on the sound improved, as one might expect. There was also a firmware update available. More on that later. 3. The sound. I have to say the sound in our living room is better than I expected. The clarity of dialogue is better than the component system I had (that was hard to type). The sound stage is broad and filling with sound enveloping you. On a side note, the compatible surround speakers are worth the extra cost. Rounds out the system nicely, and since the system is surround sound ready, you have volume control built in. Samsung doesn't state how many watts the amplifier is with the surround system, but if I had to guess I'd say somewhere in the 30 – 50-watt range. On this system the sound coming from the speakers is much louder than I expected, and of course they're wireless. 4. The subwoofer. The subwoofer is decent. Certainly not thunderous, but not too bad for an 8" 160-watt RMS speaker. To me the bass notes are warm, rich, blend well with the sound bar output and surprisingly good considering what I was used to. I ended up placing the sub tightly in a corner behind the recliner in our living room. Corner loading produced the best non-directional sound in our setup (Note: Once the Dolby Digital was turned on the output to the sub increased). 5. Sound control. You have plenty of control over the sound. You can adjust the various volumes independent of each other and there is a dedicated subwoofer toggle on the remote. You also have separate bass and treble controls. There is also a 7-band equalizer which works in Standard mode, but not in Surround mode. I don't know if it's supposed to or not. Mine doesn't. Maybe limited by the Surround function? It doesn't really matter as the bass and treble adjustments are satisfactory. So far, the performance of the Q70 has been very good with pay-per-view movies, broadcast programming and movies, and music streamed from Pandora. As previously stated, the sound more than fills our 17'x19' living room, with sound seemingly coming from all directions. I should point out our living room has a ceiling that angles up on both sides to flat area that is roughly 6-1/2'x17'. Cons: 1. The manual could provide more information. The online version is slightly more informative, but only slightly. This was not a problem for me but could be for others. 2. There is only one HDMI input. If I can add an HDMI switch which allows for an additional input for $30 dollars, how much would it have cost for Samsung to do the same? At this price point you'd expect at least two, if not three HDMI inputs. 3. Connection to WI-FI. In order to connect to WI-FI you must download the SimpleThings app to your phone. Once you get it working then you can connect the sound bar to WI-FI. This is important for firmware updates which will happen automatically when they're available. You can also get the updates on-line at Samsung's website and install manually. In my opinion though, you shouldn't have to download an app to connect the sound bar to WI-FI. Another thing about the app. I had to call Samsung to get it to work. Once downloaded you're supposed to get an email to confirm your account. I never got the email despite several resend requests and uninstalling and reinstalling the app twice. A minor gripe. The bottom line is the Q70 works very well for us. This sound bar system can provide good sound, has good surround sound capabilities, is easy to install and use with only some minor negatives. If you're in the market for a soundbar, I would recommend you give this one a listen. I hope this review is helpful for you and with your decision.

Good balance of performance & design

Sean2slow 4/30/2019

So I have been using this system for about a week now. Features/Design - Setting it up with my TV was a bit confusing at first but I was able to figure it out eventually. I like that you have the option to connect thru wire/wifi/bluetooth depending on your needs. I went with the Bluetooth option to minimize wire mess. I live in a small (overpriced) apartment and I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate its minimalist design. Obviously I would prefer a full stereo system but this is a happy compromise for now. Sound Quality/performance - My general expectation for soundbars is pretty low so I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty impressive sound range (lacking a little mid range) and crisp sound quality overall. I have heard way worse from some stereo systems. Things got even better once I was able to setup Dolby Atmos. As long as the wall angles are right, you will notice the difference. This may not be the best bang for your buck in the market but it provides excellent value within its price-tier, especially compared to other premium brands.

Not Ready for Prime Time

Video_Pro 4/28/2019

I've had the speaker system for several days. There is no online owners manual, there are no instructions on how to upgrade the firmware, and DTS and Atmos coded content shows a message as incompatible audio. I assume that some form of online help exists but I've been on hold with "a Care Pro" and can't get any answers.
