Great for a while, now terrible

i was so impressed with this for a while. since i bought my new 2021 samsung q80 tv, it never works correctly, even after updating the software. i had to turn the volume up to double what it was before. q symphony not supported, but the surround sound function (by adding the swa-8500s speakers) is now wacked. sometimes the rear speakers are louder than the front ones. bass is diminished too. the unit reacts differently to cable tv, streaming services or blu ray. bringing it to geek squad today before i just throw it in the trash. support is non existent via chat or phone through best buy. tv sound is great, but i do not think this unit is compatible with this new tv, maybe others. so frustrating.

Audio compatibility Issue

i have had the samsung hw q60r since nov 2019 and from past few week have started getting issues like the audio output is very low. i have to put the volume. up to 40 whereas earlier use to run it at 15 max i tried restarting, removing the hdmi cable and reinstalling, but nothing works even checked for my samsung tv if there was any issue with it. the tv volume works fine without the soundbar not sure where the issue is.

Doesn't stay connected to BT

I'm exchanged my first one and the new one does the same thing. I can pair it to my S10 and S8 phone but after a minute or so it disconnects. then when you try and reconnect it it connects and immediately disconnects. I've spent hours, resetting, researching, updating, unpairing, changing power settings, etc. I'm now beyone the return window and stuck with a useless EXPENSIVE sound bar.

Lousy sound on any setting

I was originally going to get the Bose Solo for the price, but we have a QLED Tv and read some reviews about the conectivity ease when using a Samsung sound bar. After a few hic ups on the connection (user error), we connected the speaker and have been blown away by the sound quality and how easily it connected to the TV. We often use our TV to play music while cooking and the QLED TV allows for "Smart Things" connections, this sound bar has simply amplified the amount of aweseomness we now have at our disposal. The Subwoofer seems lacking, may recommend getting an additional subwoofer for bigger rooms, but the bar itself has impressive bass. Great for movies, music quality through streaming services is fantastic and crisp as well. No problems with the bluetooth connection to TV, don't hear any residual delay or lag. Highly recommend for anyone with a QLED or Samsung TV, allows you to keep the TV master control and still control the Sound bar.

Cuts in and out

The sub is weak and the sound bar cuts in and out often. I hard wired the connection and it still cuts in and out. For being a Harman Kardon the sound is weak. I went from a Bose to this and expected a comparable sound bar but it's pathetic.

shipped with bad mounting screw. customer service took 4 hours to send me the replacement. No wifi should have been a deal breaker, but assumed it would work well enough with my brand new samsung tv over hdmi/bluetooth. but it doesn't they don't sync at all. the remote is garbage, can't "wake up" via blue tooth or headphone speaker. sound is decent quality at normal volume, loud has more distortion than it should.

Excellent for the Price

Out of the box this was easy and quick to install. Has a nice solid quality feel to it. Upon starting it up it communicated via HDMI ARC with my Sony TV. The first impression was so-so but after a burn-in the sound came to life. Some speakers need to be run for a short time to break them in. The sound was immersive and very clear on 5.1 movies. This is a big plus for this sound bar. Dialog is very distinguishable even during action scenes in movies. The sub woofer performed excellent but I faced the speaker of the enclosure forward which improved and tightened the bass. The main sound bar has a remarkable amount of bass itself much like a compact Bose system. This is a great feature as the sub woofer is equalized to produce only the lowest of frequencies. This helps clarify the higher bass notes and clarity. The 5.1 feature throws the sound of the rear channels to the back of the room with realism. You can even distinguish a rear right channel or rear left channel. Dialog is top notch. Separate bass and treble controls are a big plus especially if you watch a lot of news casts where the people us lapel microphones that muffle their voices. There are many sound settings. One of which maintains bass even if the volume is turned way down. This sound bar has to be mounted at least 2 inches below the TV to allow the rear on board surrounds to function correctly. Keep this in mind if you are going for aesthetics as the cords will be visible between the TV and the soundbar. I got this for a great price at $299 instead of the $500 retail making it the best value sound bar for the money available.

I started to do my research and was looking at the Q90R sound bar, but after going to the store and listening to the Q60r I had to have this soundbar. The room I have is large 17x24 and it fills the room and more. It is super clear and the BASSSSSSS is amazing. For this price it's a must have!!!

Disappointing center channel

Disappointing center channel Samsung had issues with previous models, and at this price point with no ability to adjust the center channel volume is a fail. They tout the adaptive sound, but it is nothing more than a gimmick when all they needed to do is provide manual control. So I am back to the pain of constantly adjusting the volume when watching a movie. I wrote this specifically for those focused on the benefits of a dedicated center channel, because this is not it. From an overall sound quality however, this thing rocks! But I was sold on the dedicated center channel, and there are many less expensive competitors out there that provide far more control over the sound distribution.

Its alright

I purchased this together with my tv. The sound is alright. Not what I was expecting. The bass is not near enough even with all the setting set all the way up (still no distortion even at high volume with all bass maxed out which is a plus). My main complaint is the sound sync. There is a setting on my tv and my sound bar to adjust the sync and I played with it for an hour and could never get the sou d to sync with the picture. Is not even close. I'm almost tempted to send it back and get the 70 but I'm afraid of the same problems.

Just purchased. Easy to set up with television and iPhone through Bluetooth. Mounting bracket also quick install. My problem is the Samsung SmartThings app doesn't detect it so I can't connect it to Amazon Alexa. When I click on soundbar icon it tells me to turn on Bluetooth, but it's already on.

Soundbar sounds good but the Subwoofer is puny

Just purchased the Samsung Q60R QLED TV and Samsung recommended HW-Q60R soundbar with wireless subwoofer. The setup was easy and the subwoofer connected as expected. The soundbar sounds good BUT the subwoofer is very disappointing. The subwoofer is working but is just not enough. I can't tell if it is underpowered or just low quality. Come on Samsung, you make some of the best TVs in the world, step it up with the subwoofers and make the sound quality match the picture quality!

I got this soundbar yesterday and was super impressed at the sound quality. The bass is nice and punchy, would have been cool had the subwoofer been a bit bigger than 6.5" but its still really good and there is absolutely no distortion. I had the HW-K450 soundbar before and replaced it with the HW-Q6R... The difference is massive. The only negative thing i have to say about the package is that it does not include an optical cable as my previous soundbar did.

Great sound except for the bass

Well pleased with the sound quality with one exception. I did go the extra step to purchase the SWA-8500S surround speakers as well. Set up was easy via the ARC connection with an HDMI cable. The sound is very good and the surround works great. My only complaint is the bass seems to be weak. I can tell the sub is working but not the BOOM that I expected. I have turned the bass to max on both the TV and sound bar but still very weak Other than that, we are pleased.

I bought it about a couple of months ago. It sounds great however its center channel sounds weak. I don't know why Samsung does not make any adjustments about this when the previous model had the same problem. Other than that everything is great. You can really hear audio where it should be. It's like having speakers on your side and can even make sound from planes feel like it is coming above (not the ceiling but above there)

So I switched from a Samsung Blue Ray Surround system to this product because I switched to 4k and the player didn't support it. While the sound quality is ok, you have to crank it up to near 80 for it to fill the living room with clear sound, whereas, my surround sound over 30 and you were waking the dead and my neighbors. I think this is good for a small room and that is about it, and by small I mean like 10x12 at most as my living room isn't that big.

Very delayed voice no way to fix

Great sound but when watching movies or tv the voice from the sound bar is extremely delayed. I have the setting on zero delay but it's at least half a second delay. I've had this issue in the past and it was livable this is awful. For $1000 I'm embarrassed for Saumsung. This Soundbar is on a 3k Samsung TV.

Love it - except for upgrading firmware & support

Pro: 1. great sound for money. better than the more expensive HW-MS750 Con: 1. incompatible with smart thigs android app (you can use the "audio remote" app but its kludgy) 2. the display is minimalist is an understatement. other than telling you the input, its unusable. 3. upgrading the firmware is a soul crushing, mind numbing experience and do not call their tech support - basically a Mexican call center where I was treated to the guy with zero subject matter expertise reading the manual and thinking somehow I didn't do that. They don't even bother to go online and see the product page that I see to confirm what it is I am downloading. absolutely horrific experience that left me nowhere. Samsung gives you no ability to document the issue in an email and send it to someone with real subject matter expertise. I ended up hanging up and got nothing done after 45 minutes. Most frustrating is that when I insert the USB with what is the correct file on it, it says "No Data" - which has to be the most non-sequitur response they could possibly give - it's almost like the Korean product designers did this to have a good laugh thinking about a poor schlub like me going through this process. Anyway, all in all, it's a good product for what it is - especially when paired with a Samsung tv although not sure if that is or isnt a real plus or minus. But the cons are not helping Samsung retain me as a future customer - unless of course this is the new bar for stellar customer support. I would recommend this product to a friend but would also caution them about my experienvce.

Sounds good except......

I purchased this sound bar about a month ago to go along with my new TV. First off the set up was very easy using the ARC connector paired with the Samsung TV. The soundbar itself also looks great even sitting on my TV stand. Bass is awesome with the included subwoofer which also set up easily. My issue is that even in Dynamic Mode voices often seem muted or very low. At first I thought this was due to the source material. But I this seems to happen with everything I have tried, including sporting events, live TV you name it. the voices seem a little low for my taste. We need to put the volume up way high in order to hear the voices sometime. To be fair i am not sure if this is a settings issue that I may not be looking at. I was hoping to get some advice from Samsung on how i can remedy this and can only give it 3 stars for now.

Nightmare

Must have absurd nickname 7/7/2019

I bought this two weeks ago; the original set-up was relatively easy, however yesterday, the HDMI-ARC connection wouldn't respond (it's connected to a Samsung 55" TV which is less than 2 years old, so compatibility should not be an issue). After two hours of troubleshooting, I finally resorted to using the bluetooth connection, but the sound quality isn't the same and my SWA-8500S satellite speakers no longer work. I am beyond frustrated and angry that a product which should have seamlessly integrated with my existing television is causing me this much trouble. This has left a sour taste in my mouth and altered my opinion of Samsung products.

Bought this today to replace a Samsung 2.0 sound bar and sub. For the price this is incredible. Great sound! I immediately went to youtube and played some songs. turned it up all the way. no distortion at all. The bass is awesome. The highs are crisp. With regular TV watching it is noticeably better than what I had. highly recommended.

decen Soundbar for small room but missing features

I bought this soundbar and returned it for the Q70R. It does a decent job, however I would highly recommend the Q70R over this soundbar. Missing features: No Dolby Digital + (This should be included in any soundbar released in 2019) No dedicated center channel (I found that speech was a bit low compared to the Q70R which has a dedicated center channel) No Dolby Atmos support Subwoofer was not strong enough for my room (Q70R SW is much larger) What I liked: Sound quality was otherwise great Setup was seamless passes ARC seamlessly works flawlessly with my Q90R television If you have a smaller apt or are budget constrained, this is a decent soundbar. However for slightly more you can get the Q70R and significantly improve your sound quality.

Great sound with deep bass

I purchased this after going round and round on a new receiver and speaker set to replace my old Onkyo 7.1 set. I wanted that theater sound, but I didn't like the idea of spending $800+. I bought the soundbar with the sub and loved it so much I added an open box set of the wireless surround speakers a week later. Money well spent. The only downside is that my 2017 Samsung tv won't send the Dolby sound set. PCM sounds great, but I would prefer more options. Would love for these to be upgradeable to Atmos.
